Katrina slammed the door shut with a thud.
‘This makes no sense. How can they just shut me out? I am a part of their group!’
She marched to the second floor of her luxurious apartment and guided only by touch climbed up to her king-sized bed. She messed and collected the sheets into a big bundle and then curled up inside it covering her head from the world and light. As soon as she was all hidden, hot streams of tears started running down her cheeks.
Three years ago, Katrina was an orphan. She was lost, tormented and bullied by everyone. However, then she was found by them, the Gods and Goddesses, and told that she has special powers and she’s the only one who can save the world. They extended the hand of care and love and for the first time in her life, Katrina was truly happy. She started believing that there’s a positive side to this dark world. And she dived into it. She did what they wanted, she trained every day and night, she made sure to not disappoint them and when the time came, she fought the evil and won. In the process she lost her powers as well as her eyes but it would have been all worth it. It should have been… but it wasn’t.
Katrina came right back to where she started three years ago. She was being neglected and bullied. Nobody wanted to hear her opinion or even accept her in the meetings. She was thrown out of their circle and there was nothing she could do to get back in their favour. Without her powers she was nothing and the powers were gone forever.
‘What can I do? What can I say? What can I change to earn my place back? I’ll do anything.’ Katrina whispered to herself.
‘Anything you say?’
Katrina froze and then threw her blankets away in a terrible fear. This voice- she knew it too well. It has been a year since she heard it and she never expected to hear it again. Katrina’s eye sockets twitched remembering her eyes being ripped out of her face and her magic being sucked out.
‘Herona, the demon of Despair. You’re back. But How?!’
‘I am, where humans need me.’
This is how evil characters are born as well as evil humans. Most of the time, they’re just people in need of love and care. Somebody that once felt helpless in their own situation. Somebody whom We turned away. Those are the evil characters but who are the real monsters?
